Lorenz Gösta Beutin
Lorenz Gösta Beutin (born 18 July 1978 in Hamburg) is a German politician for The Left. He has been a member of the Bundestag from Schleswig-Holstein since 2025, and previously from 2017 to 2021. Since May 2025 he has chaired the Bundestag committee on the Environment, Protection of Climate and Nature and Nuclear Safety.
Beutin did his civilian service at the Protestant Academy Bad Segeberg (1998–1999). He studied history, politics and German literature at the University of Hamburg from 1999 to 2008, earning a master's degree. As a historian, he focuses on the history of National Socialism and anti-Semitism.
He entered the Bundestag after the 2017 federal election, serving on the Committee for Economics and Energy and as the group’s spokesman on energy and climate policy. He returned to the Bundestag in the 2025 federal election, and since May 2025 has led the Environment, Protection of Climate and Nature and Nuclear Safety committee.
