Local Government ICT Network
Local Government ICT Network (LG ICT Network) is a knowledge-sharing portal for information and communication technologies (ICT) in South Africa’s local government. It is hosted by the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) and supported by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
Online since May 2011, it brings together ICT practitioners across public service delivery, with members from almost all of South Africa’s 278 municipalities. The network’s goals are to share useful documents, promote best practices, and provide regular updates on events, jobs, and news. It is a space for free discussion and exchange.
In August 2011, the two-day ConnectIT live event was held at the Birchwood Convention Centre in Johannesburg, attracting more than 400 participants from both private and public sectors. In 2012, the network showcased its work at the Public Participation Conference of the Gauteng Legislature and at Tech Demo Africa 2012.
