Living Lutheran: The ELCA’s main magazine

Living Lutheran is the primary publication of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). It is published monthly by Augsburg Fortress Publishers. The editor is Andrea Kulik, and the magazine has a monthly circulation of about 133,400 copies.

Editorial offices are at the Lutheran Center in suburban Chicago, Illinois, where the ELCA’s denominational offices are also located. Augsburg Fortress handles distribution, while all editorial, advertising, marketing and online work are done in Chicago.

The magazine traces its roots back to 1831, when it began as The Lutheran. It drew on several earlier Lutheran publications from merged church bodies and was renamed Living Lutheran in 2016.

What it covers: news about the ELCA, its synods, congregations and members; news from global Lutheran churches; news from other denominations and faith groups; and inspirational stories and columns.

It is published 12 times a year and is distributed in many countries.
