Liverpool Beatles Museum
Liverpool Beatles Museum, once called Magical Beatles Museum, is at 23 Mathew Street in Liverpool, near the Cavern Club. It opened on 13 July 2018 and was created by Roag Best, son of Neil Aspinall and Mona Best and Pete Best’s half-brother.
The five-floor building houses about 300 original items on display, with around 1,200 more kept in storage. Three floors cover different periods in Beatles history: 1959–1962, 1963–1966, and 1967–1970.
Notable items include George Harrison’s Futurama guitar, John Lennon’s Sgt. Pepper medals, the cello from “I Am the Walrus,” and Pete Best’s Premier drum. Also on show are Paul McCartney’s bass speaker, Lennon's custom egg chair, police guard logs from the Beatles’ New York visit, the “All You Need Is Love” doll from BBC Our World, and gifts Elvis Presley gave the Beatles.
The museum has hosted photos of visiting celebrities such as Noddy Holder, Nick Mason, Billy Bob Thornton, Tim Rice, and Craig Charles. In 2020, Pete Best unveiled a new mural at the museum. The building is a Grade II listed warehouse from the early 19th century. It’s located close to the Cavern Club and is accessible via Whitechapel bus stop 3 and Moorfields railway station.
