List of Asian NASCAR drivers
Asian drivers have competed in NASCAR’s top three national series (Cup, Xfinity, and Truck) since 1996. Here are some key milestones:
- Toshio Suzuki: the first Asian driver to race in a NASCAR national series event, in one Busch Series race in 1996.
- Hideo Fukuyama: the first Asian driver in the Cup Series, at the 2002 MBNA Platinum 400 in Dover.
- Shigeaki Hattori: later became a team owner with Hattori Racing Enterprises, whose team won the 2018 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship.
- Narain Karthikeyan: the first Indian driver in a NASCAR national series, competing part-time in the 2010 Truck Series between Formula One seasons.
As of 2025, these drivers have all competed in at least one NASCAR national series event.
Statistics are current through September 20, 2025. “Top national series starts/wins” combines starts and wins in the Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series and does not include ARCA Menards Series results. Some of these drivers have retired or have not competed in a national series since 2024.
