Rodrigo de la Cadena
Rodrigo Álvarez de la Cadena, born January 3, 1988 in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, is a Mexican singer, musician, songwriter and radio host. He is popularly known as El Bolerista Mas Joven de Mexico and Nino Bolero. Rodrigo specializes in bolero, but his music also includes tango, big band and ranchera. He sings and plays piano, keyboards, guitar, accordion and even the bagpipe. He has been active in music since 2002.
Rodrigo has a repertoire of more than 900 songs, including his own material, and has worked with many renowned artists such as Armando Manzanero, Roberto Cantoral and José José. He hosts a live radio show, Nuevamente… Bolero, every Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. on Radio Trece 1290 AM, bringing romance and memories of classic bolero music to listeners across Mexico.
He has performed on Mexico City’s major stages, including the National Auditorium and the Metropolitan Theatre, and in notable hotels and nightclubs. Rodrigo has released two albums. The first, Nuevamente… El Bolero, was produced with Orfeón and features 12 tracks chosen from more than 30 studio recordings. After leaving Orfeón, he released a second album, Boleros Con Orquesta, independently, with his own orchestra. He produced and arranged this album, and it includes poetry recitations by Amado Nervo and Martín Galás to add romance.
Rodrigo has been invited to many International Festival Of Bolero events in Mexico and abroad, performing in countries like Ecuador, Cuba, Argentina and Panama, and even in Europe. In 2014, he won the Grand Prix at the Slavianski Bazaar arts festival in Vitebsk, Belarus. He continues to perform in Miami, San Antonio, Mérida and Ecuador, and is working on a third album that will include new original songs and a duet with Carlos Lico.
Rodrigo remains devoted to the Golden Age of romantic music, keeping bolero alive for new audiences and fans around the world.
