Life Clock is an art concept by Bertrand Planes. It marks life in seven‑year steps up to 84 years, with the numbers 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77, and 0. A full rotation happens every 84 years in real time because 12 steps of 7 equal 84. The mechanism is slowed by a factor of 61,320, so a person’s lifetime is shown over a very long period. The idea is based on the average European lifespan, about 81.5 years (as it stood around 2006). Life Clock was created in 2004 and first shown in Paris at Maison: Temoins.
