Lesbonax

Lesbonax of Mytilene was a Greek sophist and rhetorician who flourished in the time of Emperor Augustus. According to Photius, he wrote sixteen political speeches, of which two survive: a hortatory speech in the Thucydidean style urging the Athenians to resist Sparta, and a speech on the Corinthian War whose title is misleading because it targets the Thebans. An edition by F. Kiehr collects these surviving works. Some erotic letters are also attributed to him. His son Potamo was also a notable rhetorician. The Suda describes him as the author of many philosophical works, though that likely refers to an earlier figure; a small treatise on grammatical figures is probably by a later author.
