İzmir Kâtip Çelebi University (IKCU) is a public university in İzmir, Turkey. It was established on 21 July 2010 and is named after the 17th‑century Turkish scholar Kâtip Çelebi. It became the 99th university in Turkey and the third state university in Izmir, created under Law No. 6005 together with six other public universities. The main campus sits on land that used to house Çiğli Leaf Tobacco Industries, a site formerly owned by Tekel before privatization. The university's motto is "Farkındayız Farklıyız" (We are aware & different). The rector is Prof. Dr. Saffet Köse. IKCU has about 18,663 students: 14,709 undergraduates, 2,989 postgraduates, and 495 doctoral students. The campus is urban, and the university's mascot is a Quill. Website: ikc.edu.tr.
