Akihito vanuatu, or the Vanuatu emperor, is a small goby fish in the Oxudercidae family. It is only found in Vanuatu, living in streams and pools there. The IUCN lists it as Least Concern. Males reach about 4.3 cm in length and females about 3.9 cm. The species was described in 2007, and a new genus, Akihito, was created for it to honor Emperor Akihito, an ichthyologist and goby expert.
