Welch Pottery Works
Welch Pottery Works was a pottery site in Dallas County, near Tulip, Arkansas. It produced everyday salt-glaze pottery from about 1851 to 1891. The complex included a kiln, a sawmill, and other buildings. It was started by the Bird brothers, who had operated another kiln near Tulip since 1843. In 1860, John Welch bought the works and ran them until 1891, when he opened another kiln near Wave and the Tulip site was abandoned. The Birds and Welch made utilitarian salt-glaze pottery. The site covers about 8 acres and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 12, 1975 (NRHP reference number 75000383).
