Leiston Pickett
Leiston Jane Pickett, nicknamed Lei, is an Australian swimmer born on 8 February 1992 in Gold Coast, Queensland. She specializes in breaststroke and has won medals at the Commonwealth Games and world events.
In 2010, at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, she won gold in the 50-metre breaststroke, finishing ahead of Leisel Jones. That year she also earned silver in the 50m breaststroke at the World Short Course Championships and at the Pan Pacific Championships. She competed in the 2012 Olympics in the 100m breaststroke after winning the Australian title in that event, the first time Leisel Jones had not won it in 12 years. In 2014, Pickett was part of the Australian team that won silver in the 4x100m medley relay at the World Short Course Championships and she retained her Commonwealth gold in the 50m breaststroke. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games on home soil, she won bronze in the 50m breaststroke. She attended A.B. Paterson College, graduating in 2009.
