Calle Järnkrok
Calle Järnkrok, nicknamed "Ironhook," is a Swedish professional ice hockey center for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL. He was born on 25 September 1991 in Gävle, Sweden. He is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 186 pounds, and shoots right.
He began his career with Brynäs IF in Sweden and was drafted 51st overall by the Detroit Red Wings in 2010. In the 2010-11 season, he quickly impressed and became one of the top European junior players.
On 5 March 2014, he was traded to the Nashville Predators (with Patrick Eaves) for David Legwand. He started with the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL before making his NHL debut on 21 March 2014 and scoring his first NHL goal on 27 March 2014.
In the 2014-15 season, he had 7 goals and 11 assists in 74 games. The Predators re-signed him in 2015 and again in 2016 on a six-year, $12 million contract.
After the 2020-21 season, he was left exposed in the Seattle Kraken expansion draft and was selected by Seattle in July 2021. In March 2022, the Kraken traded him to the Calgary Flames for draft picks. He played 12 playoff games for Calgary.
As a free agent, he signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs on 15 July 2022, a four-year contract worth $8.4 million.
Internationally, Järnkrok has represented Sweden at the World Championships in 2013 and 2014 (Minsk).
His cousin Elias Lindholm is a professional hockey player who has played for the Boston Bruins.
