Daniel Therrien
Daniel Therrien was the 8th Privacy Commissioner of Canada, serving from June 5, 2014 to June 26, 2022. He is a Canadian lawyer and civil servant who studied at the University of Ottawa, earning a Bachelor of Arts and a law degree, and was called to the Quebec bar in 1981. Before becoming privacy commissioner, Therrien held various federal government roles, most recently as assistant deputy attorney general for the public safety, defence and immigration portfolio from 2005 to 2014. His appointment as privacy commissioner was approved by the House of Commons in a 153–75 vote. He succeeded Chantal Bernier in the role.
