Pomaia is a small village in Tuscany, central Italy. It is a frazione of the comune of Santa Luce, in the Province of Pisa. The village sits about 176 meters above sea level. Its population was 264 in 2011 (188 in 2001). Pomaia is best known for the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute, one of Italy’s largest Tibetan monasteries. The local economy relies on farming and tourism.
