ESL One Cologne 2019
ESL One Cologne 2019 was a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive LAN tournament organized by ESL in Cologne, Germany, from July 2–7, 2019. Sixteen teams competed for a prize pool of $300,000. The event used a two-stage format: a group stage with two eight-team groups in a double-elimination bracket, followed by a six-team playoff. The group winners earned byes to the semifinals, while the remaining top teams played in the quarterfinals. The playoffs were best-of-three series, except the final, which was best-of-five. Valve’s Active Duty map pool was used, with Cache removed and Vertigo added.
Attendance was around 15,000, and Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut was named MVP. ESL One Cologne 2019 was part of the Intel Grand Slam, where teams compete to win four premier events for a $1,000,000 prize. Team Liquid achieved their fourth Premier title at this event, earning the extra $1,000,000.
16 teams qualified through a mix of invitations and open qualifiers from Europe, North America, and Asia. In the end, Team Liquid defeated Team Vitality in the grand final to win the title. Astralis and Natus Vincere finished as the other top semifinalists.
