Lavonte David is an American football linebacker who plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL. He was born on January 23, 1990, in Miami, Florida. After high school at Northwestern, he went to Fort Scott Community College and then Nebraska, where he earned two All-American honors. The Buccaneers drafted him in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft (58th overall), and he has spent his entire career with Tampa Bay. He helped the team win Super Bowl LV in the 2020 season.

David is known for his tackling ability and consistency. He was named a first-team All-Pro in 2013 and earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2016 and 2020. He played in the Pro Bowl in 2015. As a rookie in 2012, he led the Buccaneers with 139 tackles. Through 2025, he has accumulated more than 1,700 total tackles, 42.5 sacks, 32 forced fumbles, 21 fumble recoveries, 72 passes defended, 14 interceptions, and 3 defensive touchdowns. In 2021, he completed his Nebraska degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, fulfilling a promise to his late mother. He has signed multiple contract extensions with Tampa Bay, keeping him with the team as a veteran leader on the defense.
