Lakhamari
Lākhāmaari (Nepalese: लाखामरि) is a traditional Newar sweet from Nepal, especially in Kathmandu. It is made with flour, sugar and butter, and may include other ingredients. The sweets come in different shapes, with each shape having its own name. In Newar wedding customs, lakhamaari is given to guests of the ceremony. Before a marriage, the groom provides lakhamaari to the bride’s family, who send it with the marriage invitation to close relatives. Lakhamaari can be dried and stored for many days.
