Litsea monopetala is a tree in the laurel family (Lauraceae). It is native to China and tropical Asia.

Distribution and habitat:
In Nepal, it grows from the Terai lowlands up to about 1450 meters, in Shorea robusta forests and tropical evergreen forests. In India, it occurs in Assam, Odisha, the Eastern Himalayas, Maharashtra (Pune, Sindhudurg) and Tamil Nadu (Coimbatore).

Description:
The tree can reach up to 18 meters in height and about 60 cm in trunk diameter. Wood density is around 540 kg per cubic meter at 15% moisture.
