Ann S. Moore is an American magazine executive who was the first woman to serve as chairman and CEO of Time Inc., from 2002 until the fall of 2010. She joined Time in 1978 as a financial analyst and moved up through the ranks in circulation and marketing. Moore was the publisher of Sports Illustrated for Kids in 1989 and the publisher of People in 1991, becoming People’s president in 1993. She helped Time launch successful titles such as In Style, People en Español, and Real Simple, strengthening Time’s presence in women’s magazines. As executive vice-president, she ran the business and development operations for consumer magazines and oversaw marketing. Moore played a key role in moving Time into the digital age, with Time and its websites growing substantially. She earned a BA from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Moore has served on the board of Avon Products and has been named to Fortune’s 50 Most Powerful Women in American Business multiple times as well as Forbes’ 100 Most Powerful Women. She is married to Donovan Moore and has one child.
