Kumar Mahadeva is a Sri Lankan American businessman. He was the founding chairman and chief executive officer of Cognizant Technology Solutions, leading the company from 1994 to 2003 before Lakshmi Narayanan succeeded him. He has held senior roles at the BBC, McKinsey & Company, AT&T, and Dun & Bradstreet. Born in Sri Lanka, he studied at Harvard Business School in 1978. He belongs to the Sri Lankan Tamil Ponnambalam-Coomaraswamy family and is the son of Deshamanya Baku Mahadeva, a prominent Sri Lankan civil servant who chaired various banks, companies, commissions, and boards.
