Krishna Mohan Pathi
Krishna Mohan Pathi (born 6 September 1939) is an Indian orthopedic surgeon from Odisha who is known for treating poor patients for free, especially in the state’s tribal areas. He founded Bharadwaj Gurukul Ashram, a charitable organization that offers medical help to the needy and has operated for more than 30 years.
Pathi was born in Sukunda village near Berhampur in Ganjam district, Odisha. He earned his MBBS from SCB Medical College and Hospital and later completed his MS in England as a Commonwealth Medical Fellow in 1972,working at Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, and hospitals in Liverpool and Birmingham. He then served at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Burla and at Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur.
After retirement, he returned to his village to continue serving the poor without charge. For over 30 years, he has conducted bone marrow tests for underprivileged people.
In 2021, he was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honor, for his medical work. He was born on Krishna Janmashtami day.
