For Madmen Only (Atomic Opera album)
For Madmen Only is a rock and progressive metal album by Atomic Opera, released on May 10, 1994. It was recorded at Rivendell Recorders in Houston, Texas, and runs 50 minutes and 39 seconds. The album was produced by Sam Taylor, known for his work with ZZ Top and early involvement with King’s X, and released on Giant / Warner Bros. Records. The title refers to a sign above a hidden door to the Magic Theatre in Hermann Hesse’s Steppenwolf.
In 2014, to mark the album’s 20th anniversary, Frank Hart released a remastered reissue with three bonus tracks. Some Warner Bros. CDs issued under the Collision Arts label were distributed as promotional copies with gold lettering on the front. The music video for the song “Justice” received airplay on MTV—about 20 times. Atomic Opera followed this album with Penguin Dust in 1997.
