Kinesis (magazine)
Kinesis was a feminist magazine published in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, from 1974 to 2001 by Vancouver Status of Women. Subtitled “news about women that’s not in the dailies,” it came out ten times a year and covered news from a social-change and feminist perspective. It served as a forum for queer, immigrant, anti-classist, and anti-ableist voices. Editors included Emma Kivisild (1984–1986), Esther Shannon (1986–1988), Nancy Pollak (1988–1992), and Fatima Jaffer (1992–1994). The magazine was partly funded by government grants. Funding problems and changes in editorial direction led to its closure in 2001. Many issues are available online in the University of British Columbia Library’s digital collections.
