Kevin Miles (American actor)
Kevin Miles (born Kevin Miles Julian Mimms in July 1990) is an American actor best known for playing Jake, the spokesman in State Farm insurance commercials.
He grew up on the South Side of Chicago and started acting in elementary school. His first role was Lord Capulet in a school production of Romeo and Juliet. He finished at the Chicago Academy for the Arts in 2008 and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Webster University, where he studied Conservatory of Theater Arts.
After college, Miles moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. For several months he slept in his car because he couldn’t afford an apartment, and he didn’t have an agent for the first two years. He worked in various commercials and later appeared on TV shows such as Criminal Minds, S.W.A.T, and iCarly.
In 2020, Miles auditioned for the State Farm Jake role. He forgot the red shirt and khaki pants required in the wardrobe briefing, but his audition still tested well and he got the part. He filmed in Austin, Texas, and began to gain popularity.
Miles appeared in his first Super Bowl commercial in 2021, alongside Drake and Patrick Mahomes. His rising profile led to collaborations with celebrities like Ludacris, Jimmy Fallon, Chris Paul, and Jimmy Butler. In 2023, Maximum Effort arranged for him to appear with Donna Kelce at a football game.
In 2024, he co-starred in a Super Bowl commercial with Arnold Schwarzenegger, who trained him for the role. Schwarzenegger noted that Miles lost some body fat during the training. Miles also attended the 2024 WNBA draft to congratulate Caitlin Clark, another State Farm spokesperson.
Miles hopes that playing Jake will help him grow as an actor and follow in the footsteps of greats like Sidney Poitier and Denzel Washington.
