Kent Manderville
Kent Stephen Manderville (born April 12, 1971) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey center who played in the NHL for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes, Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, he was drafted 24th overall in 1989 by the Calgary Flames. He played college hockey at Cornell from 1989 to 1991 and helped Canada win gold at the World Junior Championship in 1990 and 1991. He left college to join the national team and won a silver medal at the 1992 Winter Olympics. He turned pro after the Olympics and joined the Maple Leafs for the 1991–92 season after Calgary traded his rights.
In the NHL, Manderville played 646 regular-season games, scoring 37 goals and 67 assists for 104 points, with 348 penalty minutes, and appeared in 67 playoff games (3 goals, 3 assists). He scored his only NHL hat trick on March 12, 1997, as a member of the Hartford Whalers in a 6–3 win over the Boston Bruins. After leaving the NHL, he spent three seasons with Timrå IK in Sweden (2003–2006) and finished his career with Espoo Blues in Finland (2006–07), retiring in 2007. He briefly considered law school but chose to complete his Cornell degree. He worked as a TV analyst in Ottawa during 2007–08 and later earned CFA and CFP credentials (2020). He is now a portfolio manager with Polaris Wealth in Ottawa.
