Kolound
Kolound is a small village in Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh, India. It lies about 28 km from Varanasi and 55 km from Mirzapur. The population is around 3,000 people, with Hindus and Muslims living together. There is a temple near a pond at the back of the village and a mosque in the center. Many residents are farmers or work as government servants, including military personnel and police.
Education is limited. There is a government school, and a few private schools have opened recently, including SUNBEAM School, which offers better education.
There is a small irrigation canal, but it does not help farmers much because it runs along the outer edges and is deep. The state government has approved cemented roads and solar street lights for the village. People drink from hand pumps and wells. Electricity is poor, available only about 6 hours a day, alternating day and night each week.
