HP MediaSmart Server
HP MediaSmart Server is a line of home servers from HP that run Windows Home Server. It was introduced in 2008 and ended in 2010. The lineup grew from basic models to more capable ones, plus a business-oriented line.
- EX470 and EX475 (2008): AMD Sempron 1.8 GHz, 512 MB RAM, four internal drive bays, Gigabit Ethernet, four USB 2.0 ports, and one eSATA port. EX470 ships with 500 GB; EX475 with two 500 GB drives.
- EX485 and EX487 (2009): faster 2.0 GHz Intel Celeron processors, Time Machine backup support, larger preinstalled drives (up to 750 GB per bay).
- LX195 (2009): low-cost option with a single 640 GB drive, 1.6 GHz Intel Atom, 1 GB RAM, Gigabit Ethernet, and four USB ports.
- EX490 and EX495 (2009): bigger storage options with 1 TB (EX490) and 1.5 TB (EX495) drives, and faster CPUs (Celeron 2.2 GHz and Pentium Dual Core 2.5 GHz).
- DataVault X510 and X310 (2009–2010): business-focused servers. X510 matched the EX495 hardware, while X310 was a cheaper Atom-based model; X310 omits some media features.
End of life: HP stopped selling MediaSmart servers after 2010 as Microsoft moved to a new Windows Home Server version.
