Kaspars Stupelis
Kaspars Stupelis (born 7 July 1982 in Cēsis, Latvia) is a Latvian sidecarcross passenger who has won the World Championship four times. He claimed titles in 2003 and 2004 with Daniël Willemsen and added championships in 2015 and 2019 as the passenger of Etienne Bax.
He began racing in 2001 with Modris Štelle. His big breakthrough came in 2003 when Willemsen chose him as his passenger, starting with a race win in Talavera de la Reina on 6 April 2003. The Willemsen/Stupelis duo won the world titles in 2003 and 2004. In 2005 he joined Kristers Serģis and finished second overall; they won a home GP in 2007 and finished third overall. After a lean 2008 season and stints with Nicky Pulinx (2009) and Maris Rupeiks (2010), he had a brief replacement by Elvis Mucenieks in 2011. Since 2012 he teamed up with Bax, finishing second in 2012, 2013 and 2014, and finally winning the world title in 2015. He and Bax also won the Dutch titles in 2012, 2014 and 2015, and he won the 2019 world title with Bax.
Career stats: 299 starts, 92 wins, 187 podiums, 5 poles, and 5,301 points. He has been active from 2001 to the present.
