1927–28 UCLA Grizzlies men's ice hockey season

This was UCLA’s second season and the first year the team was known as UCLA. The school had been called California Southern Campus in the previous season. The team was coached by Frampton and captained by Harvey Tafe.

After an undefeated first season, UCLA opened their 1927–28 campaign later than planned, against Occidental since a USC game was delayed. The Grizzlies lost their first two games, their first defeats in two years, putting them in a tough spot. They bounced back with a hard-fought win in game 3.

USC dominated Occidental, so UCLA could only hope for a city championship tie if they won their remaining three games. In the big game against USC, UCLA tied the score after USC led 2–0, but USC then pulled away and UCLA conceded six goals, giving the city title to USC.

Following a second loss to Occidental, UCLA changed the lineup with Tafe moving to defense and Al Johnson moving to forward. A scheduled game against USC was delayed when USC got the date wrong and didn't show up; the Grizzlies declined a forfeit and the game was rescheduled but ultimately canceled.

Artemus Lane served as team manager. UCLA used the same colors as UC Berkeley until 1949.
