Karyn Crisis’ Gospel of the Witches (GOTW) is a heavy metal band formed by former Crisis singer Karyn Crisis and Ephel Duath guitarist Davide Tiso. The project began in Tuscany in 2009, but after creative differences it moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. The group renamed itself Gospel of the Witches in early 2014.

Music and style
GOTW blends doom metal with gothic, experimental, and progressive elements. The band’s name and sound reflect Karyn’s interest in witchcraft, spirituality, and otherworldly themes.

Albums and releases
- Salem’s Wounds (2015): Funded by Kickstarter and Indiegogo, released by Century Media and Golden Viper. The writing happened from 2009 to 2014, with some help from guest musicians. Karyn’s connection to a spirit guide named Aradia influenced the songs. The album was promoted with music videos and live performances.
- Covenant (2019): Recorded mostly by Davide Tiso, with Fabian Vestod on drums. The concept centers on female divinities. It was released on October 25, 2019, through Golden Viper and Aural Music.

Live shows and label history
GOTW performed live in 2015 with a lineup that included Robert Vigna, Ross Dolan, and Charlie Schmid. They initially pursued independent funding but later signed with Century Media after reconnecting with label president Marco Barberi. Following Century Media’s acquisition by Sony, the band faced creative conflicts and was dropped by the label.

Current status and future
Since early 2022, Karyn Crisis has been dealing with health issues related to topical steroid withdrawal, which has paused the band’s activities. Davide Tiso has said a third Gospel of the Witches album is ready for Karyn to sing, but it will be released when they are both ready. For now, GOTW is on hold.
