Karina Banfi
Karina Verónica Banfi (born February 27, 1972) is an Argentine politician serving as National Deputy for Buenos Aires Province since 2015. She is a member of the Radical Civic Union (UCR) and, from 2025, is part of Adelante Buenos Aires. Banfi was born in Bahía Blanca and studied law at the University of Buenos Aires. She also has postgraduate studies in Law and Compared Media Policies from Oxford University and in Inter-American and International Human Rights Protection Systems from the Washington College of Law.
She is married to Hernán Charosky and has two children. Banfi has worked with the Organization of American States as Regional Coordinator of Transparency and Governance Programs and as an advisor on Freedom of Expression at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
In the 2015 legislative election, she ran as the tenth candidate on the Cambiemos list in Buenos Aires Province and was elected when the list won 33.75% of the vote. She was re-elected in 2019 as the tenth candidate on the Juntos por el Cambio list.
As a deputy, Banfi has served on commissions including Communications and Informatics, General Legislation, Constitutional Affairs, Human Rights and Guarantees, Freedom of Expression, Petitions, Powers and Norms, and Foreign Affairs. She is a vocal supporter of abortion legalization in Argentina, voting in favor of the two Voluntary Interruption of Pregnancy bills in 2018 and 2020.
