Kakao Entertainment
Kakao Entertainment Corp. is a South Korean entertainment, media, and publishing company owned by Kakao. It was founded on March 2, 2021, after Kakao merged its KakaoPage and Kakao M units. The company serves customers worldwide and offers webtoons, web novels, music, dramas, movies, and other entertainment products. It consists of two main divisions:
- Page Company: handles web fiction publishing and web development; based in Pangyo, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province; led by co-CEO Joy Lee.
- M Company: handles entertainment and mass media; based in Gangnam, Seoul; led by co-CEO Stephan Kim.
Headquarters are split by division (Seongnam for Page Company and Seoul for M Company). The parent is Kakao. Ownership includes Kakao (63.50%), Podotree (15.33%), Joy Lee (0.96%), and others (20.21%). Area served is worldwide. The company emphasizes products and activities such as webtoons, web novels, music, dramas, movies, publishing, web development, talent management, and production and distribution.
