Franco Pizzichillo
Franco Nicolás Pizzichillo Fernández (born 3 January 1996) is a Uruguayan footballer who plays as a right-back or midfielder for Montevideo City Torque, wearing number 5. He came through the Defensor Sporting youth system and began his senior career with Defensor Sporting (2017–2018), with loan spells at Villa Teresa in 2017 and Cerrito in 2018. In 2018 he joined Montevideo City Torque, where he has become a regular player, tallying 159 appearances and 12 goals. He also spent a loan at Santos Laguna in 2022.
Internationally, Pizzichillo represented Uruguay at youth level, playing for the U17 team at the 2013 South American U-17 Championship and the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup, and for the U20 team at the 2015 South American U-20 Championship. In March 2021 he was named in Uruguay’s 35-man preliminary squad for World Cup qualifiers against Argentina and Bolivia, though those matches were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In May 2024 he became part of Uruguay’s first A’ national team, making his A’ debut on 31 May 2024 in a 0–0 draw with Costa Rica.
