KROM is a San Antonio, Texas radio station at 92.9 FM that plays Regional Mexican music in Spanish. It is owned by Univision and branded as Que Buena, with studios in northwest San Antonio and its transmitter in Elmendorf. The station’s history goes back to 1948 when it started as KONO-FM, the FM sister to KONO AM, offering a “good music” format. It went off the air in 1956 and returned in 1957, sharing a tower with KSAT-TV. In 1960 the call letters changed to KITY and the station expanded its broadcast day. In 1986 it was sold to Duffy Broadcasting and became Power 93, featuring a lively morning show. In 1990 it relaunched as KSRR “Star 93” (adult contemporary) and soon shifted to Spanish programming, first as Éxitos en Español and then La Romántica, adopting the KROM call letters. In 1995 KROM switched to Regional Mexican as Estéreo Latino. Univision bought the station in 2003, and in 2016 it rebranded as Qué Buena 92.9, continuing its Spanish-language Regional Mexican format for listeners in the San Antonio area.
