Just Family
Just Family is the third studio album by American jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater, released in June 1978. It was recorded in 1978 at Chateau Recorders in North Hollywood, California. The album runs 39 minutes and 34 seconds, was released on Elektra, and produced by Stanley Clarke. In Bridgewater's discography, it follows her 1977 self-titled album and precedes Bad for Me (1979). Just Family reached No. 13 on the Billboard Top Jazz Albums chart. Norman Fearrington played drums on the record. Critics have mixed views: while it isn’t considered Bridgewater’s landmark work, fans of late-70s R&B-infused jazz may still enjoy it, and Bridgewater’s style here fits with artists like Phyllis Hyman, Patrice Rushen, Minnie Riperton, and Patti Austin. She would go on to gain wider jazz prominence in the 1990s.
