Josanne Lucas
Josanne Lucille Lucas (born May 14, 1984) is a track and field athlete from Trinidad and Tobago who specializes in the 400 metres hurdles. She was born in Carnbee, Tobago. Her first big success came in 2005 when she won the national 400 metres title, but she later focused on hurdles.
Lucas competed at the 2005 World Championships in the 400 m hurdles, though she did not advance past the heats, and she represented Trinidad and Tobago at the 2008 Olympic Games, also without advancing.
In 2009 she set a new national record of 55.24 seconds in Belem at the Grande Prêmio Brasil Caixa meet. That year she won a bronze medal in the 400 m hurdles at the World Championships in Berlin. She studied Biomedical Sciences at Auburn University under coach Henry Rolle. After college, she worked as a teacher at Fort Collins High School. On August 24, 2019, she became a naturalized citizen of the United States.
