José Humberto Carrasco Tapia (24 August 1943 – 8 September 1986) was a Chilean journalist who stood up to censorship during Chile’s military dictatorship. He was a member of the Revolutionary Left Movement. In the 1960s and 1970s he worked for magazines, newspapers, radio and TV, including Punto Final, Gol y Gol, and Análisis; radio stations Minería, Portales, and Chilena; and Canal 9 of the University of Chile. He was also international editor of Análisis. He was killed by the National Information Center on 8 September 1986, in retaliation for the attempted assassination of Augusto Pinochet the day before.
