Dragon's Lair 3D: Return to the Lair is a 2002 action-adventure game for Windows, Xbox, GameCube, and PlayStation 2. It was made by Dragonstone Software and published by Ubi Soft worldwide. In North America, Encore Software published the GameCube version, and in Europe THQ handled the GameCube release. The game is based on the 1983 Dragon's Lair arcade and follows Dirk the Daring as he enters Mordroc’s castle to rescue Princess Daphne from Singe the dragon.

New features include free movement through a mostly linear castle, new puzzles, rooms, and enemies, plus the Dragon Essences that grant special powers. Players manage Health and Mana meters that can be upgraded, use a crossbow for puzzles and combat, and can collect treasure (100 total) to unlock extras like unlimited mana, alternative character skins, and faster sword charging on a new game.

The visuals use cel shading to mimic the original hand-drawn look, and Don Bluth created new opening and ending animations. The story includes twists about Daphne and a hidden impostor, with Dirk eventually defeating Mordroc, who transforms into a dragon, using magical arrows.

The game received mixed or average reviews across platforms. In late 2004, Digital Leisure released Dragon's Lair III, which used footage from Dragon's Lair 3D but a control style closer to the original game.
