AZD9272 is a drug that selectively blocks the metabotropic glutamate receptor subtype mGluR5. It was tested in humans as a potential pain reliever, but the trials were not successful. Despite this, AZD9272 is widely used in research, especially in its radiolabeled forms to study mGluR5.
