Jorge Vilar
Jorge Antonio Vilar Castex (27 June 1931 – 17 February 2015) was an Argentine sailor who won gold at the Pan American Games and the Snipe World Championship. He learned to sail Snipes with his brother, Carlos, at Club Náutico San Isidro and began competing in 1947. The Vilar brothers won the Snipe World Championship in 1948 as crew and again in 1951 as skipper, both times with Carlos. They also finished second at the 1949 World Championship. In later years they placed sixth in 1953 and fifth in 1958. World championships were held in Palma de Mallorca (1948), Larchmont (1949), and Havana (1951). At the Pan American Games in Buenos Aires in 1951, he won a gold medal in Snipe.
