The Historical Archives of Šumadija in Kragujevac is the main institution that preserves historical documents for the Šumadija District in Serbia. It serves Kragujevac and nearby towns, including Rača, Batočina, Knić, Topola, Aranđelovac, and Lapovo. The archives hold records from the Ottoman period before Serbia’s independence and from socialist-era factories in the city and region.

History
- 1948: The archive was founded to collect documents from pre-World War II institutions that had closed.
- 1952: It became the City Public Archives.
- It originally covered a larger area, including Kraljevo and Novi Pazar.
- 1958: Renamed State Archives of the Kragujevac District.
- 1967: Renamed Historical Archives of Kragujevac.
- 1970: Took its current name, Historical Archives of Šumadija.
- 1999: The NATO bombing damaged the building and damaged some materials; relocation of major fonds caused further irreparable harm.
