Jonathan C. Gambela
Jonathan C. Gambela is a French gospel singer, multi-instrumentalist, pastor and Christian minister. He was born in Montfermeil, France, to parents from the Democratic Republic of Congo. He grew up in a Christian home and learned to play drums and keyboards in church through the Mission Évangélique Grâce Abondante (MEGA). He also practiced judo and later studied finance, communication and law near Paris.
He started his music career with the group Mekaddishkem, formed with his brother Esdras Bantsimba, releasing the EP Ambiance céleste and the album Paradisio in 2015. He began a solo career in 2020 with the single Holy Spirit (Esprit de Dieu) and the hit video Onction. His debut solo album, My Heart Bows (Mon cœur fléchit), arrived in March 2021, blending gospel with alternative rock, Congolese rumba, sebene and pop-rock. In 2024 he released his second studio album A New Day (Un jour nouveau) featuring collaborations with Dena Mwana, Esdras B and B-right. A live EP titled Add (Loved by God) followed in 2025. He also teamed up with Congolese artist Fiston Mbuyi on Ami Éternel in 2024.
Gambela is the lead pastor of Nouveau Souffle Church in the Paris region. He was ordained a prophet in 2017 and works in Christian teaching and worship ministry. He is married to Elisa Harmony Gambela, and they have four children.
