Kataomoi (Unrequited Love) is a song written by Kazumi Yasui (lyrics) and Makoto Kawaguchi (music). It was first recorded by Michiru Maki as the B-side to her 1969 single Suzu no Oto ga Kikoeru. The single was released on November 1, 1969, in the Kayōkyoku style, by Toshiba EMI. All music on the track was arranged by Makoto Kawaguchi.

Mie Nakao later covered Kataomoi and released it as a single on November 5, 1971 (B-side: Sore ga Nani ni Naru). The song did not chart at first, but in March 1977 requests from a Sapporo radio station led Victor to reissue the single on June 10, 1977. The reissued version reached No. 28 on the Oricon weekly singles chart and sold over 300,000 copies. The arrangement was by Makoto Kawaguchi.

Akina Nakamori released the song as part of a double-A single with Aibu on March 24, 1994, from her album Utahime, under MCA Victor. The single, titled Kataomoi / Aibu, peaked at No. 17 on the Oricon chart and sold over 133,900 copies. All music on this release was arranged by Makoto Kawaguchi.
