Pinebluff, North Carolina
Pinebluff is a small town in Moore County, North Carolina, in the Sandhills region. It had 1,473 residents in 2020. In the early 1900s it was a popular regional resort, but a major fire left the town damaged and it is now mainly a residential community. In 1909 Pinebluff was a sundown town, meaning African Americans were not allowed to live there or stay overnight. The Lincoln Park School and McLeod Family Rural Complex are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Pinebluff sits along U.S. Route 1, known locally as Walnut Street. It is about 3 miles northeast of Aberdeen, 6 miles from Southern Pines, and 7 miles north of Pinehurst. The town covers about 2.64 square miles, with most of that land and a small amount of water. Aberdeen Creek forms the southeast border and flows into the Lumber River watershed.
