John Linson is an American film and television producer and founder of Linson Entertainment. He’s known for producing films like Great Expectations, Lords of Dogtown, and The Runaways, and for creating the TV series Sons of Anarchy and Yellowstone.

Born in Los Angeles, California, he is the son of film producer Art Linson. He’s a licensed private pilot and a longtime motorcycle enthusiast.

Linson began his career making music videos, including directing and producing the Porno for Pyros video Tahitian Moon. He also produced Nirvana’s Live at the Paramount and Guns N’ Roses Don’t Cry: Makin’ Videos. His first major film was Great Expectations, directed by Alfonso Cuarón. He then produced Lords of Dogtown (Catherine Hardwicke) and The Runaways (Floria Sigismondi), which Rolling Stone named the #1 rock film of all time.

His love of motorcycles inspired the FX series Sons of Anarchy. After its success, he co-created Yellowstone with Taylor Sheridan. Yellowstone premiered on June 20, 2018, on the Paramount Network.

Linson also produced The Comedian, a comedy-drama directed by Taylor Hackford and written by Lewis Friedman, Richard LaGravenese, Art Linson, and Jeff Ross, starring Robert De Niro, Leslie Mann, and Harvey Keitel. He produced The Outsider, an action crime drama directed by Martin Zandvliet and written by Andrew Baldwin, starring Jared Leto and Tadanobu Asano. He served as a producer on all listed films unless otherwise noted.
