John Fairgrieve (18 April 1926 – 20 July 2014) was a British sprinter and doctor. Born in Greenwich, London, he studied medicine at Caius College, Cambridge, and joined the Achilles Club. In athletics, he finished second in the 220 yards at the AAA Championships in 1947 (behind McDonald Bailey) and again in 1948 (behind Alistair McCorquodale). He competed for Britain in the 200 metres at the 1948 London Olympics. He also earned a Cambridge Blue for rugby as a wing-three-quarter. Fairgrieve served in the Royal Medical Corps, reaching the rank of major from 1952 to 1954. Later he became a senior consultant in vascular surgery at several hospitals, including Middlesex Hospital.
