John Coffey is a Dutch punk rock and post-hardcore band from Utrecht. They started in 2005 and gained attention with a video of the singer catching a beer from the crowd. The name comes from John Coffey, a character in The Green Mile.

The band’s sound is influenced by Refused, Every Time I Die, and The Ghost of a Thousand. Their debut album Vanity was released in October 2009 on Sally Forth Records/Munich Records. The first 1,000 copies were pierced by a bullet, a notable quirky detail. They toured Germany, the United Kingdom, and Sweden.

In 2010, vocalist Art van Triest and guitarist Twan van Eikelenboom left the band. Christoffer van Teijlingen joined on guitar, and later that year David Achter de Molen became the vocalist. In autumn 2011 they recorded a new album in Stockholm with producer Pelle Gunnerfeldt, with support from fans via SellaBand.

Their 2012 album Bright Companions was released in September by Redfield Records after the singles Romans and Featherless Redheads. The album received positive reviews in the Dutch and international press.

On 19 May 2016 the band announced they were putting the band on hold. They later announced a comeback in March 2023 on Instagram.
