Muxen Building
Muxen Building is a historic former school in rural Crawford County, Arkansas. It stands on the west side of U.S. Route 71, south of Winslow, next to the Our Lady of the Ozarks Shrine. The single-story stone building sits on about 10 acres and was built around 1942 in the Ozark vernacular style. It is made from local fieldstone on a concrete foundation, with a broad hip roof that features exposed rafter ends and balconies on two sides. The building was constructed to house a craft school founded by Clara Muxen, a Roman Catholic nun whose work also inspired the nearby shrine. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 29, 2019 (reference number 100003986).
