Springhead lies at the source of the River Ebbsfleet, just southwest of Gravesend. It is a major part of the Ebbsfleet Valley development, with housing and facilities under construction. It is where the High Speed 1 rail line meets the A2 road. In ancient times it surrounded a pool formed by eight natural springs, and the Roman road Watling Street ran through Springhead. The Romans knew it as Vagniacae. The site had many temples and trading buildings. In 1808, William Bradbery became the first person to grow watercress commercially in Springhead. Coordinates: 51.43056°N, 0.32833°E.
